Touch ‘n Go eWallet (TNG eWallet) has introduced a new cashback promo where you can get up to 2% cashback when you spend with their Visa prepaid card overseas. This is probably the best prepaid card for overseas travel right now.

TNG eWallet’s new cashback promo is running from 1st July until 31st December 2024 and applies to eligible international transactions. The 2% cashback promo is only for in-store payments over a POS (Point of sale) terminal. However, for international online payments, they are giving 1% cashback instead.

According to TNG eWallet, the cashback will be credited to your eWallet account after each completed eligible spend.

Besides getting cashback, TNG eWallet Visa card offers competitive foreign exchange rates as they currently don’t charge any markup for overseas transactions. If you do plan on withdrawing cash via an ATM, do note that there’s an RM10.00 withdrawal fee.

According to the T&C, not all types of transactions are eligible for the cashback promo. The non-eligible merchant category codes (MCC) include Pakistan Air, Railroads, local commuter passenger transportation and ferries, taxi, petroleum/fuel dispensers, cash withdrawals, eWallet top-ups, crypto or foreign currency, insurance, associations and organisations, government services, gambling and tax payments.

Overall, the 2% cashback and zero markup offers make this a very enticing card for overseas spending. As a comparison, GXBank currently offers 1% cashback and zero markup for foreign currency transactions. However, if you plan to withdraw cash from an ATM, GXBank is waiving its domestic and overseas cash withdrawal fees until 31st December 2024.

For more information about TNG eWallet Visa 2% cashback promo, you can check out the full T&C and FAQ.
