As we are entering the second half of 2024, Samsung is expected to launch its latest foldable smartphones, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6, during their next Unpacked event. Ahead of the official launch, serial leakster Evan Blass aka Evleaks has revealed several promo materials for the upcoming flagship devices. However, they have gotten some extra “treatment” to avoid potential legal action from the Korean tech giant.
As you can tell from the pixelated images, these are the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 and the Z Flip 6. The overall design of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 remains mostly unchanged from the current Galaxy Z Fold 5, while the compact flip phone, the Z Flip 6 still retains a “folder”-like cover display as its predecessor.
Thankfully, you don’t have to squint your eyes to figure out what these devices look like. A few days ago, Samsung Kazakhstan allegedly leaked the promo images of the Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6, which have been archived on Slashleaks.
As shown above, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 now features a more squarish form factor with flat edges. Similar to the Galaxy S24 Ultra, the metal frame has a matte finish, while the corners are noticeably less curved. This means the new Fold’s main display should offer greater display real estate as the flexible display is almost a perfect square without the curved corners. Even the back glass seems to get a matte finish, which gives it a more consistent look as the current Galaxy S24 Ultra.
For the Galaxy Z Flip 6, it looks pretty much identical to the Z Flip 5. The only noticeable difference is the matte metal frame instead of the current glossy finish on the current Z Flip.
Besides getting new processor upgrades, the main highlight for the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6 will be Samsung’s Galaxy AI capabilities. As mentioned by Samsung’s EVP and Head of Mobile R&D, Won-Joon Choi, the company is committed to delivering a completely new and unique AI experience and they will further optimise the Galaxy AI experience for the upcoming foldable devices.
He added that their foldables are the most versatile and flexible form factor in Samsung Galaxy and when combined with Galaxy AI, the two technologies will unlock all new possibilities. Similar to the current flagship models, we reckon that the new Z Fold and Z Flip devices would also come with 7 years of OS upgrades and security updates.
Besides foldable devices, it appears that Samsung is finally releasing the Galaxy Ring, which was first teased during the launch of the Galaxy S24 series. This is Samsung’s latest wearable fitness device that can track vital health information including sleep and heart rate monitoring.
Samsung has yet to reveal the date of the upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event but it is speculated to take place as early as 10th July. Last year’s Unpacked for the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Flip 5 was held in South Korea, but this time, it is said to be happening in Paris just before the 2024 Olympics and Samsung is the Worldwide Olympic and Paralympic Partner.
