A month after Apple revealed it at the iPad-centric Let Loose special event, the new iPad Pro with an M4 processor is now available in Malaysia. The same also goes for the equally new M2-based iPad Air.
Per our previous report, the iPad Pro 2024 can be obtained with 11 and 13-inch screens. Colour-wise, there are only two options though which are Silver and Space Black.
Here’s how much the new M4-powered iPad Pro cost in Malaysia:
If you are planning to get your hands on the 1TB or 2TB version, you can also choose to have the nano-texture glass display for your new iPad Pro. This is provided that you are willing to pay an additional fee of RM500.
For those who want to have a complete iPad experience through first-party accessories, Apple has prepared quite a number of them around. For one, there is the new Apple Pencil Pro which is priced for RM599 or you can opt for the older (and cheaper) Apple Pencil USB-C for RM399.
At the Let Loose event, Apple also unleashed the new Magic Keyboard for iPad Pro 2024 which can be obtained for RM1,699 for the 13-inch version while the smaller 11-inch variant is available for RM1,479. If you just need a cover, you can check out the Smart Folio which costs RM479 for the 13-inch variant and RM379 for the 11-inch counterpart.
According to Apple, the new M4 can provide up to 1.5x faster CPU performance and 4x faster GPU than the M2. The new chip also allows the iPad Pro 2024 to deliver up to 4x faster rendering and supports hardware-accelerated ray tracing.
The iPad Pro 2024 also marked the arrival of the Ultra Retina XDR display which features the Tandem OLED panel. The new display uses two OLED panels to help deliver screen brightness levels as high as 1000 nits or 1600 nits for HD content.
The company somehow decided to implement only a single 12MP f/1.8 camera on the back of the iPad Pro 2024 although the camera is said to offer better colour and low light performance. The tablet has also been fitted with a landscape Ultra Wide front camera which helps provide a more natural framing for video calls. In addition to that, the camera also supports Centre Stage.
Apple also did not forget to highlight that the iPad Pro 2024 is the thinnest iPad to date at just 5.3mm for the 11-inch model. Interestingly enough, the 13-inch variant is even thinner at 5.1mm.
If the iPad Pro is too powerful for your usage or lifestyle, then you can also consider the new iPad Air 2024 which now comes with the M2 processor. Just like the Pro model, it can be obtained with an 11-inch or 13-inch screen.
There are 4 colours to choose from including Space Grey, Blue, Purple, and Starlight. Here’s the Malaysian price list for the new iPad Air 2024:
Need accessories to go with it? Well, just like the M4-powered iPad Pro, the iPad Air 2024 also supports Apple Pencil Pro and Apple Pencil USB-C which are priced at RM599 and RM399, respectively.
When it comes to first-party keyboards, the 13-inch model can support the older Magic Keyboard and Smart Keyboard Folio that Apple has designed for the 3rd to 6th generation iPad Pro 12.9-inch. They can be obtained for RM1,699 and RM999, individually.
On the other hand, the 11-inch iPad Air M2 can work with Magic Keyboard and Smart Keyboard for the 1st to 4th generation iPad Pro 11-inch models. These keyboards are available for RM1,479 and RM899 each.
The main upgrade that the iPad Air 2024 carries to the table is the M2 processor which is said to provide 50% more performance than the previous M1-powered iPad Air. If you opt for the 13-inch model, it comes with a brighter screen at 600 nits as well as double the bass than the 11-inch variant.
