Malaysia Airlines is set to take deliveries of their brand new Airbus A330-900 (A330neo) in the next quarter. As announced early this year, Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG) will receive 12 new aircraft this year, and four of which will be the A330neo.

Ahead of its delivery, the national flag carrier has provided a sneak peek of its brand-new widebody aircraft in Toulouse, France where it is currently undergoing its final assembly process.

As shared on X, Malaysia Airlines’ first A330neo has started its final assembly process. With the main fuselage sections, wings and tail that carry the iconic Wau logo attached, the aircraft will then undergo installation of the cockpit, engines, landing gear, electrical wiring, avionics, and fuel and hydraulic systems.

Once that’s completed, the A330neo will proceed to go through ground checks, cabin installation and prepare for its test flight, before making its journey home to Malaysia. As shared by Malaysia Airlines, the logo for the A330neo retains the same “slanted” red and blue Wau design instead of the new version on the Boeing 737-8 that features a non-slanted design with an overlay of songket elements.

The acquisition of the Airbus A330neo is part of MAG’s commitment to provide modernity and elevate its standards of serving offerings to support the growth of the aviation industry. The new aircraft which will eventually replace its existing A330-200 and A330-300 fleet, boasts up to 25% reduction in fuel consumption and emissions, which will contribute to the group’s environmental targets.

Another huge upgrade is the interior as Malaysia Airlines’ A330neo will feature brand new Business Class seats that offer greater privacy. Utilising Collins Aerospace Elevation seats, the new business class products offer individual sliding doors and the seats are arranged in a 1-2-1 layout with all guests having direct aisle access. The seats will have a large entertainment screen and wireless charging pad.

For Economy class, the new A330neo will feature Recaro CL3810 Economy Class seats which come with in-flight-entertainment (IFE) screens that are larger than its current A330-300 offering. Similar to the new 737-8 economy class, the new Economy seats on the A330neo will feature blue and light grey colour combinations that feature the airline’s signature songket motif.
