Leapmotor C10 - Malaysia Autoshow 2024

Leapmotor has just made its first official outing in Malaysia today at the Malaysia Autoshow 2024. The company has showcased the Leapmotor C10 electric SUV which is one of the two electric vehicles that the company has marked for global release in cooperation with Stellantis.

Hence, it is not surprising that the EV is sharing the space with several other brands from Stellantis including Peugeot and Citroen at the event. While Stellantis is apparently working to bring the C10 into Malaysia within Q4 this year, the company did not announce any release date or pricing details for the EV today.

Leapmotor C10 quick specs

Much of the details regarding the C10 for the global market are still under wraps for the time being. In fact, the unit that Stellantis has brought to Malaysia Autoshow 2024 has a left-hand drive setup.

According to a recent global press briefing, we do know that it will have a WLTP-rated range of 420km. When you cross reference that with C10 variants that are currently available in China, the global model will likely be identical or close to the version with a 69.9kWh LFP battery.

The exact charging capability of this variant was not revealed by Leapmotor. However, the company did claim that the battery level can go from 30% to 80% in 30 minutes with DC charging or 5 to 6 hours through AC charging.

If the company retains the same setup as per the variant in China, the C10 for the global will then feature a rear-mounted 170kW (228hp) electric motor that also produces 320Nm of torque. It allows the EV to accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in 7.29 seconds alongside a top speed of 170km/h.

Leapmotor C10 pricing

Over in China, the C10 with 69.9kWh battery costs from CNY138,800 (~RM90,903) to CNY168,800 (~RM109,420). However, we don’t think that the EV will be priced that low in Malaysia especially considering that we have the RM100,000 minimum price policy for fully imported Completely Built Up (CBU) new EVs.

Nevertheless, we think that the C10 will be a fierce competitor against the current king of EVs in Malaysia, the BYD Atto 3. There are also other potential rivals such as the Chery Omoda E5, Neta X, and GAC Aion Y Plus.
