ZTE has showcased its 5G innovations during its recent “Unfolding the Intelligent Future 2024” event in Kuala Lumpur. During the event, it received recognition from the Malaysia Book of Records for setting the fastest 5.5G live trial record.
ZTE’s 5G-Advanced accomplishment was first attempted in October 2023. With a 5G downlink speed of 28Gbps, it was described as the world’s fastest 5G trial conducted in partnership with Digital Nasional Berhad, TM and ZTE Corporation. The 5.5G setup utilises ZTE’s mmWave Active Antenna Unit (AAU) and is said to deliver Malaysia’s first standalone 5G core.
During his keynote speech at the event, ZTE Malaysia Managing Director Steven Ge said, “Malaysia holds a key position in ZTE Corporation. It is an important country for us, and we are committed to playing a significant role in its digital transformation journey. Our goal is to build the best-wired and wireless networks in the region, enabling seamless connectivity and driving innovation across various sectors. This commitment is demonstrated by our recent showcase of the 5G mmWave with the world’s fastest download speed, which earned ZTE Malaysia the fastest 5G-A live trial by the Malaysia Book of Records (“MBR”).”
The ceremony was also witnessed by MCMC Chairman Tan Sri Mohamad Salim Bin Fateh Din, ZTE Malaysia Deputy Country Manager Tey Khang Lian, ZTE Malaysia Vice President Normah Arip, TM Chief Commercial Officer Jasmine Lee and DNB Chief Operating Officer Nasution bin Mohamed.
According to ZTE, the event underscores the company’s commitment to advancing Malaysia’s digital infrastructure and highlights its role in driving global telecommunications innovation.
It added that ZTE is dedicated to developing a robust 5G network in Malaysia that promises ultra-high speed, reduced latency, and enhanced connectivity. The latest advancements are set to revolutionise various sectors including healthcare, education and manufacturing.
Ge said, “ZTE’s dedication to innovation is reflected in our substantial investment in research and development, ensuring that we meet the highest standards of quality and performance.” He added that the commitment positions ZTE to tailor its solutions to meet the unique demands of Malaysia’s 5G strategy and to continue its significant contributions to the country’s digital ecosystem.
