After being out of commission for several months, the ChargEV chargers at Aeon Mall Shah Alam are now online again. Operated by Yinson GreenTech (YGT), it is one of the company’s largest and fastest EV charging locations in its network.
The charging hub has been offline for months
The location originally became operational at the end of last year. However, the chargers were suddenly taken offline within weeks after they went live.
At first, the location was marked as offline on the ChargEV app. Not long after, we noticed the location was removed from the app altogether although it is unclear when exactly this took place.
Hence, there are concerns that the chargers would be removed altogether. However, the wait finally came to an end when ChargEV announced on 30 April that the chargers at the AEON Mall Shah Alam were finally operational once again.
Everything remained the same including the charging fee
As noted in our previous report, ChargEV has installed a 400kW DC charger system at this location that is inclusive of six CCS2 connectors. Each of these connectors can deliver a DC charging speed of up to 320kW.
However, do note that the actual DC charging speed depends on the capability of respective EV models. During our test last year, we managed to get a Kia EV6 to go from 17% to 80% in just 17 minutes via the ChargEV DC charger at Aeon Mall Shah Alam.
For EV owners who want to spend a longer time at the shopping mall, they can utilise the AC charger that ChargEV has installed in the same area. Two charging bays are available for this particular charger which can deliver up to 11kW
Price-wise, it costs RM1.60 per kWh to utilise ChargEV DC chargers at Aeon Mall Shah Alam while the slower AC charger is available for RM1.00 per kWh. If you have a ChargEV membership, you can utilise the AC charger at a discounted rate of RM0.80 per kWh.
