Realme Note 50: Entry level smartphone with 90Hz display, available for as low as RM299

Realme has launched a brand new smartphone in Malaysia, just in time for the Hari Raya holiday season. Despite being positioned as an entry level device though, the new Realme Note 50 does have some decent features such as a high refresh rate display and a large battery.

Realme Note 50 Malaysia pricing and availability

The Realme Note 50 is already available for purchase from all Realme Brand Stores and their authorised retailers nationwide as well as their official store on Shopee, Lazada and TikTok Shop. Here’s how much it’ll cost:

  • Realme Note 50, 4GB RAM, 64GB storage – RM349
  • Realme Note 50, 4GB RAM, 128GB storage – RM399

As part of their Hari Raya celebrations though, you’ll be able to get the base model for as low as RM299 on Shopee when you use their voucher upon checkout. You’ll have to be quick though, as the Raya promo will last only till the 7th of April.

Realme Note 50 specs

For a smartphone that you can get for under RM300 during its promotional period, you are actually getting quite a lot of nice-to-haves. Take the display for instance. The Realme Note 50 may not have an OLED display like its more expensive siblings, but does still pack a large 6.74-inch, IPS LCD display with a HD+ resolution that’s capable of a smoother 90Hz refresh rate as well as a peak brightness of 560nits and a 90.3% screen-to-body ratio.

Under the hood, the Realme Note 50 is powered by the Unisoc T612, a 12nm 8-core system-on-chip mated to 4GB of RAM and up to 128GB of storage along with support for up to 2TB of external memory. It runs Android 13 out of the box, skinned with RealmeUI over it.

As for its cameras, despite the Realme Note 50 looking like it has a triple rear camera setup, from what we can tell it only has a main 13MP, f/2.2 camera on the back that you can actually use alongside an auxilliary lens, while in front you get a 5MP, f/2.22 selfie shooter. Incidentally, Realme’s Mini Capsule feature means you’ll also get information such as battery status and notifications next to the front camera’s punch hole on the display, like the iPhone’s Dynamic Island.

Other features of note include a 5,000mAh battery that Realme says will be good for up to 106 hours of music playback and up to 13 hours of YouTube video playback, along with support for 10W fast charging via USB-C. There’s also a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, an IP54 dust and water resistance rating, a 3.5mm audio jack and has support for WiFi 5 and Bluetooth 5.0 wireless connectivity. Available in Sky Blue and Midnight Black, the Realme Note 50 measures just 7.99mm thin and weighs just 186g.
