EV drivers heading to The Exchange TRX in Kuala Lumpur can now charge their vehicles at the mall. Gentari has just turned its EV chargers located at the Premium Carpark and they come with a premium price tag. The charging locations at TRX are co-branded with BMW.
The Exchange TRX EV Charging Rate
There are a total of 5x Exicom AC Charge Points deployed near Pillar 1C in the Premium Carpark located on the Concourse Floor. The Premium Carpark is accessible via Persiaran TRX just after the Luxury Drop-off point area.
The daily parking rate for the Premium Carpark at The Exchange is RM15 for the first hour, followed by RM4 for each subsequent hour, up to a maximum of RM50 per day. There’s also a flat rate of RM25 if you enter the Premium Carpark between 5.00pm to 5.00.am.
These Gentari AC charge points are capable of delivering up to 22kW of power and are priced at RM0.25 per minute (RM15 per hour). You can activate and pay for these chargers via Gentari Go, Setel, JomCharge and ChargEV apps.
Charging at this location is not cheap. The total cost including charging and parking is RM30 for the first hour and RM19 for subsequent hours. That’s RM49 for 2 hours of charging and it’s more worthwhile if your EV has a 22kW onboard charger like the Smart #1, Renault Zoe and newer and updated models of BMW, Mercedes Benz, Audi and Porsche EVs.
Gentari has 8 more EV chargers at B1 Car Park
[ UPDATE 30/04/2024 ] Gentari EV Chargers at The Exchange TRX B1 car park are now live. RM0.25 per minute (RM15 per hour).
Gentari has also deployed eight more 22kW Exicom AC Charge Points on Level B1 (Near Pillar C13) of the Casual Carpark area, however, these chargers are still not turned on. It is worth noting that these charging bays are angled, making it very tricky for EVs with rear-mounted charging ports to reverse in. The cable for these chargers are long enough to accommodate EVs with rear-mounted charging ports.
So far there’s no pricing info for these chargers and hopefully, it will be cheaper than the Premium Carpark chargers.
In terms of parking rate, the casual carpark costs RM5 for the first hour and RM4 for subsequent hours on weekdays. Meanwhile, it is cheaper during weekends at RM3 per hour. There’s a flat rate of RM10 if you enter between 5.00pm to 5.00am daily, and the maximum charge is RM30 per day. That’s still cheaper than Pavilion Kuala Lumpur’s latest parking rates for 2024.
