Disney+ Hotstar Malaysia has revamped its subscription plans. Starting next month, users will be provided with two subscription options instead of the single 3-month plan that has been in place since Disney+ Hotstar Malaysia was launched in June 2021.
Here’s what the new pricing of Disney Hotstar Malaysia looks like
Beginning 24 April, Disney+ Hotstar Malaysia’s price structure will look like this:
- Disney+ Hotstar Basic Plan Monthly: RM24.90
- Disney+ Hotstar Basic Plan Annually: RM214.90
- Disney+ Hotstar Premium Plan Monthly: RM39.90
- Disney+ Hotstar Premium Plan Quarterly: RM79.90
- Disney+ Hotstar Premium Plan Annually: RM289.90
The Disney+ Hotstar Malaysia price hike is quite significant
As a comparison, the current Disney+ Hotstar Malaysia quarterly plan costs RM54.90 which equals RM18.30 per month. Considering that the monthly price of the new Premium plan is RM39.90, you are looking at a difference of RM21.60 or an increase of 118% in terms of the service’s monthly value.
Even the new Basic plan couldn’t beat the monthly value of the existing price. At RM24.90 per month, that is 36% more than before.
For existing customers, you will be migrated to the new Premium quarterly plan starting 24 April. From the pricing standpoint alone, you are looking at a 47% price hike given the price difference between the current quarterly plan and the new Premium plan is RM25.00.
If you decide to stay with Disney+ Hotstar, the only way to save some money with the new revamped subscription model is by choosing the annual option, which will save customers over 30% compared to the monthly option according to the service’s FAQ page. This applies to the quarterly option for the Premium plan as well.
