Almost two years after its arrival in Malaysia caused a massive crowd at Pavilion KL, the Omega x Swatch MoonSwatch collection will welcome a new model later this month. Called Mission to the Moonphase, it is the first model in Swatch’s history to feature the moon phase function.
It costs slightly more than existing MoonSwatches
When the MoonSwatch collection was launched two years ago, each model came with a price tag of RM1,065. However, the price then went up a year later to RM1,140.
These days, the retail price of a MoonSwatch in Malaysia is even higher at RM1,200. However, if you want to get your hands on the upcoming Moonphase model, you have to fork out a little more as it will be priced at RM1,370.
Featuring an appearance from Snoopy and a new colourway
The Omega Speedmaster has a reputation as the first watch to make its way to the moon and among the many reasons why this collection is called MoonSwatch in the first place. In keeping up with the theme, the new Mission to the Moonphase model also features NASA’s safety ambassador, Snoopy as well as his best friend, Woodstock on the watch’s moon phase disc.
When put under UV light, one would be able to see the hidden stars as well the “I Can’t Sleep Without A Night Light!” phrase on the moon phase complication. The phrase was picked up directly from Snoopy’s comic strip, similar to what Omega did for the 2015 Speedmaster Professional Apollo 13 45th Anniversary release.
Aside from the new moon phase complication, this model features an all-white colourway to represent the full moon phase and is also new to the MoonSwatch collection. Not to forget, there is also a Snoopy-themed moon drawing on the battery cover of the watch.
Snoopy MoonSwatch is only available at certain Swatch stores
As you may have heard before, the MoonSwatch collection can only be obtained at select Swatch stores in Malaysia. However, not all of these stores will carry the new Snoopy MoonSwatch even though Swatch already pointed out that this is not a limited edition model.
Nevertheless, the new Snoppy MoonSwatch will only be available at Swatch branches in Fahrenheit88 Bukit Bintang, Pavilion KL, Mid Valley Megamall KL, The Exchange TRX, and Suria Kota Kinabalu. So, do check out these locations on 26 March if you are planning to get your hands on it.
