Aside from their mainstream flagship Magic 6 Pro, Honor also surprise launched two more smartphones in Malaysia this week: the Magic 6 RSR and the Magic V2 RSR. These are basically redesigned versions of the Magic 6 Ultimate that launched in China recently and the Magic V2 foldable from last year.
Honor Magic 6 RSR
First up is the Honor Magic 6 RSR. It does share a number of similarities with the mainstream Honor Magic 6 Pro, with a similar 6.8-inch OLED display pushing a 2800 x 1280p resolution and a 1-120Hz refresh rate along with a peak brightness of 5,000nits. There’s also a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 mated to 24GB of RAM and 1TB of storage, running Android 14 skinned with MagicOS 8.0 over it.
Where it differs is of course in design, with the rear sporting a look inspired by the Porsche Taycan’s front vertical styling. The display also gets a layer of Honor NanoCrystal Shield over it for even better durability having been built using silicon nitride. As for the cameras, there’s a similar 50MP, f/1.4-2.0 main shooter like the Magic 6 Pro, but the Magic 6 RSR uses an improved Honor Falcon H9800 image sensor for improved 15EV dynamic range.
The rest though is again pretty much the same, with the main camera flanked by a 180MP, f/2.6 periscope telephoto and a 50MP, f/2.0 ultrawide while the front camera is a 50MP, f/2.0 selfie shooter with a 3D depth sensor next to it. You’ll also find a 5,600mAh with support for 80W wired fast charging and 66W wireless charging, stereo speakers, an in-display fingerprint sensor as well as support for 5G, NFC, WiFi 7 and Bluetooth 5.3 wireless connectivity.
Honor Magic V2 RSR
As for the Magic V2 RSR, this is again essentially the same as the Magic V2 foldable from before, with a main 7.92-inch, 2344 x 2156p OLED display and a secondary 6.43-inch, 2376 x 1060p OLED cover screen; both displays also support a 120Hz refresh rate.
Under the hood meanwhile is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, with 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage, while for cameras there’s a 50MP, f/1.9 main camera, a 50MP, f/2.0 ultrawide, a 20MP, f/2.4 telephoto and a pair of 16MP, f/2.2 selfie cameras. Keeping the lights on is a 5,000mAh battery with 66W fast charging.
What’s so special about it then? Well just like the Magic 6 RSR, the Magic V2 RSR was also inspired by a Porsche, except this time it’s the Porsche 911. The Magic V2 RSR’s rear panel comes with an angular look, taken from the Porsche 911’s hood specifically.
Honor Magic 6 RSR and Magic V2 RSR Malaysia pricing
Being special edition, limited run devices done in collaboration with a luxury, high performance automobile marque, it’s no surprise then that the Magic 6 RSR and Magic V2 RSR carry some rather high price tags. The Magic 6 RSR with 24GB of RAM and 1TB of storage is priced at RM7,499, while the Magic V2 RSR with 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage is priced at RM10,999.
If you’re keen on either of these devices—perhaps to pair with your brand new Porsche Taycan—then unfortunately you can’t buy them simply by walking into your local Honor store. The Magic V2 RSR is only available to those who had previously registered for it when Honor previewed it awhile back, while for the Magic 6 RSR, you can register by clicking here to preview it and then get invited to purchase it at a later date.
