The Samsung Galaxy S line has always been a best seller, so that is why it is the flagship line. This year though the Galaxy S24 series‘ impressive sales volume is being led by the middle child – the Galaxy S24 Plus. This is according to a report by Counterpoint Research.
The report says that the Galaxy S24 series saw an 8% year-on-year (YoY) increase in the number of units sold in the first three weeks of the model’s availability worldwide. This is in Counterpoint Research group’s Global Weekly Smartphone Model Sales Tracker.
What is more impressive in the report is that the Galaxy S24 Plus saw a staggering 53% YoY jump versus last year’s Galaxy S23 Plus sales. Last year, the Plus model was the weakest in the lineup.
Even though the Galaxy S24 Plus sales numbers were impressive, more than half of the sales of the Galaxy S24 series so far have been dominated by the Galaxy S24 Ultra.
Why more people are buying the Galaxy S24 Plus?
According to senior Counterpoint analyst Minsoo Kong, the increase in sales can be attributed to the fact that the Galaxy S24 Plus is priced at a sweet spot. Plus, the Galaxy S24 Plus specification meets the minimum requirement for on-device AI features. That 12GB RAM also helps with ensuring a smooth experience in general.
Considering that one of the main selling points for the S24 series devices are the new Galaxy AI features — which include Live Translate, Note Assist, Photo Assist, and Circle to Search — being able to provide an improved AI experience on-device instead of being cloud-dependent does seem like a worthy upgrade.
