Gentari and JomCharge (EVC) have successfully deployed a new DC charging station at the Petronas station in Gunung Semanggol Southbound R&R. The new EV charging location is perfect for EV owners who require a quick top-up between Penang and Taiping.
As announced by EVC, the location has a new 150kW Kempower DC charger with three satellite terminals equipped with a CCS2 connector each. The charger is configured for dynamic load sharing which will share the 150kW charging capacity dynamically across the three nozzles. Assuming this is the exact setup as Gentari’s DC charger at Petronas NKVE (Northbound), supported 800V-based EVs should be able to get up to 150kW while 400V-based EVs will be able to get up to 120kW assuming there’s only one nozzle being used.
Similar to most Gentari DC chargers, the 150kW DC charger at Gunung Semanggol Southbound R&R is priced at RM1.50 per kWh. If you’re not in a hurry, Gentari still has a 20kW DC charger at the location but it is priced at RM0.50 per minute (RM30 per hour). The charger can be activated via Gentari Go and JomCharge. Users with the Gentari Annual Membership plan can enjoy a 50% discount on these chargers.
So in total, there are four DC charge points at this location, making this a favourable charging spot for a higher chance of EV charger availability. The next DC charger is about 30km away, located at Caltex Bukit Gantang Southbound R&R. The location has a 50kW DC charger priced at RM1.20 per minute.
