Shortly after its global debut, Garmin has brought its new entry level running smartwatch to Malaysia, the Forerunner 165 series. It’s their cheapest running smartwatch to feature an AMOLED display, and there’s also an option with music streaming capabilities for when you’re out running with wireless earbuds.

There will be two variants of the Forerunner 165 in Malaysia, one with support for music streaming and one without. Here’s how much they’ll cost:

If you’re keen, you’ll be able to get one from now onwards via the official Garmin store on Shopee and Lazada, the AECO eStore as well as all authorised Garmin brand stores and retailers nationwide.
In conjunction with the launch of the Forerunner 165 series, Garmin Malaysia will be hosting a leisure run happening this 10 March at Masjid Negara. You can join Garmin Malaysia ambassador Alif Satar from 6.15am onwards for a morning prayer, with the run itself beginning at 7.30am onwards.
Garmin Forerunner 165 features
With the Garmin Forerunner 165 series, the most notable feature is would be its 1.2-inch AMOLED display, complete with a layer of chemically strengthened glass over it. It’s a touchscreen so you can control it via the display itself, but you can also navigate around using the five physical buttons on the sides. The chassis meanwhile is built out of fibre-reinforced polymers, and supports standard 20mm quick release straps.
The Forerunner 165 series also offers an up to 11-day battery life in normal use and up to 19 hours when using GPS; if you’re using the Forerunner 165 Music and stream music along with having GPS on, the estimated battery life is reduced to 7 hours. Speaking of GPS, the Forerunner 165 series comes with multi-satellite GPS tracking for more accurate location tracking information too. You will be able to charge the Forerunner 165 using a proprietary Garmin charging cable.
Both Forerunner 165 variants offer features such as personalised adaptive training plans, training metrics, recovery insights, daily suggested workouts, morning reports, nap detection as well as running essentials like pace, distance and heart rate tracking with over 25 activity profiles in total. The Forerunner 165 Music model in particular lets you stream music off Spotify, Deezer and Amazon Music, as well as give you voice prompts as you work out. You’ll also want to download the Garmin Connect app to sync with the Forerunner 165.
