After plenty of teases and posts on social media, the Nothing Phone (2a) is finally official. The Phone (2a) sees Nothing return to the midrange segment, and is also their first smartphone to be powered by a MediaTek chipset rather than one from Qualcomm.

Nothing Phone (2a) specs
The Nothing Phone (2a) is a bit of a throwback in some respect, as it switches up its design by moving its cameras towards the middle, right in the middle of the phone’s NFC coil in fact. According to Nothing, this allowed it to make a new product icon, dubbed ‘the eyes’ apparently because behind them are the ‘brains’—make what you will from that. The Phone (2a) also comes with a 90° angle unibody cover which improved its drop test results. It comes with an IP54 dust and water resistance rating too, and will be available in both Milk and Black colour options.
As for its display, the Phone (2a) features a 6.7-inch, FHD+ AMOLED display, with an up to 120Hz refresh rate that can go down to as low as 30Hz. The panel is also capable of a peak brightness of 1,300nits, and up to 1,100nits in high brightness mode. There’s also a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 5 over it for scratch resistance. Flip it around and surrounding the camera bump is a smaller trio of LED strips that make up its Glyph Interface. Nothing says still retains the same capabilities as the Glyph Interface of the Phone (2), such as the Glyph Timer and Glyph Progress bar.
Under the hood, Nothing has kitted out the Phone (2a) with a new MediaTek Dimensity 7200 Pro, a 4nm system-on-chip that was engineered specifically for Nothing. It comes with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, with Android 14 out of the box skinned with their own NothingOS 2.5. Nothing adds that the Phone (2a) will get a minimum of three major Android OS upgrades and four years of security patches.
In the camera department meanwhile, those two ‘eyes’ happen to be a pair of 50MP shooters, with the first being a 50MP, f/1.88 main camera flanked by a 50MP, f/2.2 ultrawide. Nothing also claims that these cameras now come with a new TrueLens Engine with advanced computational algorithms to ensure photos are true to life as possible. Rounding things off is a 32MP, f/2.2 front facing camera.
Other features of note here include a 5,000mAh battery that Nothing claims will deliver up to two days of use on a full charge, and will also be able to maintain over 90% maximum capacity even after 1,000 charging cycles. It also supports 45W wired fast charging, bringing it back to 50% in just 20 minutes. You’ll also find stereo speakers and support for 5G, NFC, Bluetooth 5.3 and WiFi 6 wireless connectivity.
