Neta made its debut in Malaysia last year by unveiling the Neta V at the Malaysia Autoshow 2023 although the EV was only properly launched and released into the market a few months later. We have since learned that the brand’s next release in Malaysia could be the Neta X compact crossover SUV.
A dedicated section for Neta X appeared on Neta Malaysia’s website
This is due to the existence of a new section of Neta Malaysia’s website dedicated to Neta X. It is unclear when Neta’s distributor in Malaysia, Intro Synergy put up the section but the site was online for at least several days before it was taken down.
If you tried to visit the site now, you would be redirected to Neta V’s section instead. Nevertheless, we have captured a screenshot of the website and a copy of it still available on Google Cache while you can also see the section being listed in Google’s search results.
Neta X Malaysia expected launch date, booking fee
Meanwhile, the site didn’t provide any information about the electric SUV. However, it did say that customers can now pre-book Neta X with a refundable fee of RM1,000 although the “Book Now” button on the website didn’t work.
We have reached out to Neta Malaysia’s representative who has confirmed that customers can indeed pre-book Neta X even though the mini-site has been taken offline. They can do so at any Neta Auto showroom throughout Malaysia and we have also been told that Neta X is expected to launch in Malaysia this May.
Neta X quick specs
The electric SUV began its life as the 2023 Neta U facelift model but for some reason, Neta decided to rename it to Neta X. According to Hozon Auto China’s website, the SUV can be obtained in 5 variants although the family is generally divided into two main options: the 400 and 500 models.
The three-digit number refers to their range of 401km and 501km respectively. However, note that these figures are based on the much more optimistic CLTC standards which are generally 15% to 25% higher than WLTP-based numbers
Hence, you are looking at a WLTP-rated range of around 300km to 341km for the Neta X 400 Series variants. As for the Neta X 500 Series models, the ranges would be around 376km to 426km.
Regardless of the variants though, all Neta X features the same 120kW (161hp) electric motor. Capable of producing 210Nm of torque, it allows the Neta X to achieve a maximum speed of around 150km/h.
As for its battery capacity and charging capability, Hozon Auto China didn’t list those details on its website though. It did say that Neta X takes around 30 minutes of charging time to get from 30% to 80% when plugged into a DC fast charger.
In China, the Neta X 400 Series currently has a starting price of CNY99,800 (~RM66,034) while the 500 Series can be obtained from CNY114,800 (~RM75,956). While the pricing seemed quite enticing, don’t expect the Neta X in Malaysia to be priced that low though as all Completely Built Up (CBU) EVs that are imported into Malaysia have to be priced at more than RM100,000.
