Following the phone’s launch in China last month, Honor Magic 6 Pro has made its official global at the Mobile World Congress 2024. Just like its predecessor, Honor’s new flagship model continues to focus on performance and photography.
Honor Magic 6 Pro pricing
Over in Europe, the pricing of the Honor Magic 6 Pro starts at EUR1,299 (~RM6,714) which is quite hefty but not exactly surprising given that the phone pricing in Europe tends to be much higher. As a comparison, Magic 6 Pro can obtained in China from RMB5,699 (~RM3,782) onwards.
How about Malaysia? At the moment, Honor has yet to announce anything regarding the rollout of Magic 6 Pro in our market but the possibility of the new phone coming to our shores is quite high.
For your reference, the Magic 5 Pro made its debut in Malaysia last year with a launch price tag of RM4,299. We expect the Malaysian pricing for the Magic 6 Pro shouldn’t be far off from its predecessor.
Honor Magic 6 Pro performance, custom chips, display
So, what does the Honor’s flagship model for 2024 have to offer? For one, the Magic 6 Pro has been equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. For the global market, it comes with 12GB RAM and 512GB internal storage.
Aside from that, this IP68-rated phone also features several custom-made chips including Honor C1+ which apparently helps enhance its connectivity capabilities. There is the Honor E1 chip for power management and a dedicated security chip called S1.
As for the display, the Magic 6 Pro still has an OLED panel with curved edges. However, the native resolution of the 6.8-inch screen is slightly lower at 2800 x 1280 as compared to the Magic 5 Pro’s 6.81-inch screen which was listed as 2848 x 1312.
The new model continues to feature 120Hz adaptive refresh rate capability while the screen brightness can go as high as 5000nits. Magic 6 Pro’s PWM dimming capability is also much higher than its predecessor at 4320Hz.
Upgraded rear and front cameras
Aside from having the latest flagship Snapdragon chip from Qualcomm, another upgrade that the Magic 6 Pro has brought to the table is its camera system. For example, the phone’s periscope telephoto camera now features a 180MP sensor alongside a f/2.6 lens with 2.5x optical zoom capability while still offering 100x digital zoom and optical image stabilisation (OIS).
Magic 6 Pro’s main camera camera has also been upgraded to feature self-adjusting aperture capability on its lens which ranges from f/1.4 to f/2.0 although it still has a 50MP sensor and OIS. Completing the tri-camera setup is a 50MP f/2.0 ultra wide-angle camera that also has macro capability.
Meanwhile, Honor also provided the Magic 6 Pro with an upgraded selfie camera. The new model now features a 50MP sensor as opposed to its predecessor’s 12MP sensor although the selfie camera still has a 3D depth sensor.
Fast charging for both wired and wireless
On paper, the battery and charging capability of Magic 6 Pro is also much superior to last year’s model. The new model features a larger capacity battery at 5600mAh while its SuperCharge fast charging capability maxes out at 80W for wired charging and 66W for wireless charging.
