Petronas green energy subsidiary, Gentari enters a new stage in its journey with the official rollout of the Gentari Go app which will go live at 10:00 PM tonight. Among the major offerings that the app will offer is the ability to utilise EV chargers not only in Malaysia but also in Thailand and Singapore.
2,000 EV chargers across three countries under one app
According to Shah Yang Razali, Gentari’s Deputy CEO as well as the CEO of Gentari Green Mobility, users will able to access more than 2,000 EV chargers across all three countries when the Gentari Go app goes live tonight.
What this essentially means is that not only users don’t have to download separate apps for chargers in Singapore and Thailand but they also don’t have to face the hassle of obtaining local numbers to use those apps. This was made possible through Gentari’s roaming partnership with multiple Charge Point Operators (CPOs).
In Malaysia, Gentari continues to maintain its existing roaming deal with Yinson GreenTech (YGT) and EV Connection (EVC) which means that ChargEV and JomCharge chargers will also be available through the Gentari Go app. As for Singapore and Thailand, Gentari Go users can utilise chargers that are under CDG Engie, City Energy Go, and eVolt network.
Other markets are also in the works
Shah also noted that Gentari is working to have the roaming EV charging capability in other markets within Asia Pacific as well. No exact timeline was revealed at the launch event tonight but in coming months, the company is hoping to include India and Indonesia into the list.
On a related note, Gentari is also working to launch the Gentari Go app in India, Thailand, and Indonesia within the next few months. For Malaysian users, the app is readily available on Google Play and Apple App Store although as mentioned earlier, it will only be fully unlocked at 10:00 PM tonight.
