DC Handal chargers are currently down due to network issue

[ UPDATE 19/02/2024 19:22 ] DC Handal chargers are back online, according to a follow-up statement that the company published on social media.

DC Handal EV chargers are currently offline according to the statement on the company’s Facebook page and X account. The charge point operator (CPO) which focuses on DC fast chargers currently has more than 40 charging points across Klang Valley, Penang, Melaka, and Johor.

They temporarily disappeared from JomCharge and ChargEV apps

The reason behind the downtime is fairly vague though as the statement that DC Handal published on social media attributed it to “a network glitch”. To the CPO’s credit, the company has also noted the downtime at all of its charging point listings on PlugShare.

Even though DC Handal chargers can be used without any app since their main activation point is directly through the payment card terminal, users can activate them via the JomCharge and ChargEV app. When the downtime notice was first published, we noticed that some of the DC Handal chargers suddenly missing from both apps although they have since reappeared again and have been marked as available for usage.

Despite that, DC Handal has said on its Facebook page that the company is still monitoring the stability of the network. This is likely why the CPO has yet to retract the downtime statement on its social media and Plugshare listings.

DC Handal locations throughout Malaysia

As noted earlier, DC Handal operated more than 40 EV chargers throughout Peninsular Malaysia. They are currently available in 13 locations with 8 of them have been categorized as mini hubs by the company.

In terms of output capabilities, they range from 25 to 240kW and the company is already planning to offer 400kW chargers in the near future. At the moment, DC Handal said that its DC fast charger network has a total power capacity of 2.0MW.
