If you’re looking to boost your productivity and speed up your daily tasks, you might want to consider upgrading to the new Samsung 990 EVO Solid State Drive (SSD) when it arrives in Malaysia. The company claims that the 990 EVO “delivers powerful performance with better energy efficiency” – in other words, expect speedy transfers while using less energy than before.

For the numbers –the Samsung 990 EVO delivers up to 43% better performance than the 970 EVO Plus. You should get up to 5,000MB/s sequential read speeds, and up to 4,200MB/s sequential write speeds. You can effectively copy a 5GB file within seconds, depending on the connection between drives.

“Samsung has been leveraging its advanced memory technologies for optimized SSD solutions, and for our latest consumer product, we’ve combined both innovation and practicality to enhance the computing experiences for users. The 990 EVO balances performance, power efficiency and reliability making it a versatile choice for the latest interface that is suitable for a variety of everyday tasks, including gaming, business workflow and creative endeavours,” said Hangu Sohn, Vice President of Memory Brand Product Biz Team at Samsung Electronics.

Samsung claims the SSD has an improved power efficiency of up to 70% compared to the previous generation and this allows longer use time without needing to be concerned about battery life – this is especially important for laptops. It supports Modern Standby, which allows instant on/off functions on laptops while still being connected to the internet.

This SSD is also compatible with current and future computers, supporting both PCIe 4.0 x4 and PCIe 5.0 x2. If you’re looking for a fast and efficient way to multitask seamlessly, then Samsung’s latest SSD is worth considering. The drive comes in either 1TB or 2TB capacities to fill the needs of those looking for large and fast storage capacities. The SSD is expected to land on Malaysian shores next month, but we have spotted a seller on Shopee listing the SSDs on sale at RM599 for the 1TB model and RM999 for the 2TB model.
