SOLS Energy and Gentari have finally offered their home solar subscription program to the public. Said to be the first such offering in Malaysia, the program was previously available only for Petronas employees when it was introduced back in June last year.
It still comes with zero upfront fee
Despite the eight-month gap, almost every aspect of the subscription program has not been changed. For starters, the SOLS Energy-Gentari subscription program can still be obtained with zero upfront payments.
That being said, you still have to pay RM1,500 as a refundable security deposit. Then again, you probably will not see the deposit again, given that a home solar system is generally a long-term installation unless you somehow have to remove it from your home.
The same goes for its subscription fee which has been retained at the same rate of RM0.46 for every kWh of energy generated by the solar system. SOLS Energy and Gentari also continue to provide 20 years of free maintenance and warranty for all home solar systems that are being rolled out through their subscription program.
You would receive two separate bills each month
Another important thing that you have to take note of is that the SOLS Energy-Gentari home solar subscription program will not free you from the TNB bill. It is just that the home solar system will help lower your TNB bill.
In order words, you will get two separate energy bills each month with one coming from SOLS Energy-Gentari while the other one would be your usual TNB bill. Based on a typical 11.48kW solar system, they claimed that customers can save up to 15% on their TNB bill per month and up to 40% per year.
Your monthly electricity bills have to be more than RM550 to qualify
If there is one new thing about the program this time around, it would be the fact that SOLS Energy and Gentari have now clearly defined the type of customers that can sign up for their subscription program.
At the moment, the program is available only for homeowners with electricity bills that are above RM550 per month. Not to forget, it also can only be obtained in Peninsular Malaysia.
