If you’re heading to Suria KLCC and plan on charging your EV, take note that the free EV chargers at the Premium Parking area are currently offline. According to the notice, the chargers are temporarily unavailable from 26th January 2024 until further notice.
Premium Parking EV chargers are unavailable until further notice
The Premium Parking area at Level P2, Suria KLCC has approximately 20 untethered AC charge points. The charge points are free to use but you’ll have to bring your own Type-2 cable. To recap, the premium parking area has a per-entry fee of RM10 that’s charged on top of the existing parking fees imposed when you enter the Suria KLCC parking area.
At the time of writing, the premium parking area is still accessible, just that you won’t be able to charge your vehicle.
Alternative chargers at Suria KLCC
If you do need to charge your EV at Suria KLCC, the other paid AC and DC chargers are still available. You can find them at the following locations:
AC Charge points
- Level P1 – Pillar F22 (Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre)
- Level P2 – Pillar 12C and 13B
- Level P3 – Pillar 12C, 13B and 14A
DC Charge points
- Level P4 – Pillar 6A and 6B
Take note that the AC Charge points at Level P2 and P3 are located within the season parking area. For weekdays (Monday-Friday), the chargers are open to the public after 6pm and they are open throughout the day during weekends and public holidays.
These alternative EV chargers can be activated via Setel, JomCharge and ChargEV apps. The 11kW AC charge points cost RM0.10 per minute (RM6 per hour), while the 30kW DC chargers cost RM0.60 per minute (RM36 per hour).
It isn’t clear why the Premium Parking chargers are temporarily unavailable. Last month, the alternative paid AC and DC chargers at Suria KLCC (Level P2, P3 and P4) were down for maintenance for about a week. It is worth pointing out that these chargers do carry the Energy Commission’s (ST) EVCS licence stickers.
As shared by ST recently, there are only 223 licenced EV charging locations with a total of 654 charge points in the country. To speed up approvals for EVCS licence, the regulator said they have reduced the application process from 60 days to 30 days.
