As announced by Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil yesterday, Malaysian telcos will be introducing special data plans for pHailing riders (e.g. Food Panda, Grab, etc.) to help them cope with the rising cost of living. Yes 5G has unveiled its Pakej pHailing Rahmah offering which includes their recently upgraded Yes Power 35 postpaid plan and a discounted 5G phone bundle.
The Yes Power 35 postpaid plan priced at RM35/month offers 150GB of 4G/5G data with uncapped speeds and it can be fully utilised for hotspot usage. Also included are unlimited calls to all networks in Malaysia. From the looks of it, there’s no discount on the postpaid plans but riders can get brand new 5G phones from RM200.
As shown above, the Honor 90 Lite 5G and Oppo A79 5G both retailing for RM1,099 are offered for RM200 on contact. Meanwhile, the Vivo Y27 5G (RRP: RM899) is going for RM299.
There aren’t many details on the respective plan and bundle options. According to their FAQ, interested pHailing riders can sign up via the Yes Business website, Yes Online Store, Yes App and Yes Stores as well as authorised dealers. Customers are also able to port in their existing mobile number from other telcos to Yes.
The Pakej pHailing Rahmah is described as a strategic collaboration between YTL Communications (Yes 5G) and 16 pHailing platforms in Malaysia. It is open to all riders aged 18 years old and above, who are working with one of eligible platforms.
