Civil servants have been asked to update their information on the Central Database Hub (PADU) as soon as possible. This is according to a new circular that was published by the Public Service Department (JPA) recently.
Civil servants have until mid-February to update
The update must be performed by 15 February 2024 according to the circular that was signed by the Director-General of Public Service, Wan Ahmad Dahlan Abdul Aziz. Interestingly enough, the circular also said that the directive came directly from Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim during a National Economic Action Council (MTEN) meeting on 14 January.
Based on the intended recipients of this circular, the new directive is not only meant for federal civil servants but also those who are with the state and local governments. Even statutory bodies are not being exempted from it as well.
Only 1.4 million individuals have registered on PADU so far
According to the statistics published on X, PADU has recorded 1,427,124 registrations up until 11:59 PM yesterday.
The Registration for PADU has slowed down a week after the portal was launched with an average of less than 50,000 new registrations per day. However, there’s been a spike over the recent weekend with daily registration of more than 50,000.
As mentioned by Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil, the government targets to get 29 million Malaysians registered by the end of March 2024. To achieve that goal, the government has to aim for more than 300,000 new registrationsΒ perΒ day.
However, the Minister of Economy, Rafizi Ramli does not seem so concerned about it though as he has revealed during a recent press conference that the Cabinet will decide on the mechanism and the amount involved for the targeted subsidy program later this week. Once that decision has been finalized, only then it can be announced to the public by PM Anwar.
Hence, Rafizi expects that the real rush to register for PADU will only take place once the announcement takes place although the minister did not reveal when exactly that will take place. This is because it is still up to the Prime Minister to determine the best time to inform the public regarding the new subsidy program.
