Asus has just unveiled the newly redesigned ROG Zephyrus and ROG Strix models for 2024. The two lines boast the latest CPUs and GPUs from Intel, AMD and Nvidia while incorporating new technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, updated HDR displays and an all-aluminium build.

When compared to last year’s model (at least for the Zephyrus G14), the new Zephyrus has been redesigned completely. Gone is the AniMe Matrix display on the cover, now the G14 and G16 look a bit more professional and more adult, ready for work. However, Asus still has some coolness with the new Slash Lighting array on the lid of the laptop, replacing the display.
Underneath the hood, the Zephyrus G14 features the latest AMD Ryzen 8000 Series processor and the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 Laptop GPU – one of the first on the market to feature both the latest CPU from AMD and GPU from Nvidia. The combination of the two means users can us the power of AI to help with their content creation, or just optimized day-to-day interactions with the ROG Zephyrus laptop.
Cooling the two components, Asus has chosen the Thermal Grizzly liquid metal thermal solution along with a tri-fan setup and 2nd Gen Arc Flow Fans. The Zephyrus G16 meanwhile sports an Intel Core Ultra 9 processor 185H and up to an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 Laptop GPU that is cooled with a custom vapour chamber and dual-fan design, all in a chassis that is only 1.49cm thick.
Both the G14 and G16 are the first ROG laptops to feature a Nebula Display with an OLED panel. The panels are also G-SYNC displays, the first on any gaming laptop. This means the refresh of games played on it will be high and smooth – Asus claims it can reach 960Hz, thanks to collaboration between ROG, Nvidia and Samsung Display.
Asus Malaysia ROG Strix SCAR 16 and 18
The ROG Strix SCAR 16 and 18 meanwhile look generally similar to last year’s model, but this year Asus has upgraded the screen for the 18 to the ROG Nebula HDR display for the first time. Both models get Mini LED panels, which now boast over 2,000 discrete dimming zones and up to 1,100 nits of peak brightness. That is bright. This means the laptops can deliver top-notch HDR content, and with the help of the ROG Nebula HDR engine, minimize blooming and haloing for challenging scenes.
Each model offers a 2.5K 240 Hz refresh rate panel with a less than 3 ms grey-to-grey response time, a 16:10 aspect ratio display like last year, and 100% of the DCI-p3 colour space.
Both models will be available with brand-new processor from Intel, the Core i9-14900HX as well as Nvidia’s latest GPU, the GeForce RTX 4090 Laptop GPU on board.
Malaysia availability for the Asus ROG Zephyrus and ROG Strix
Great news for Malaysian fans, Asus Malaysia said that these laptops will be dropping by our shores sometime in January. In particular, the laptops will be launched in January 2024 and made available soon after.
