After first teasing it back in December last year, Huawei is finally launching the Huawei MateBook D 16 in Malaysia. The 16-inch laptop offers users a simple yet capable productivity machine with a large display at a rather affordable price tag, though if you’d like you can bump it up to a powerful Intel Core i9 processor too.

Huawei MateBook D 16 specs
The Huawei MateBook D 16, as its name suggests, features a massive 16-inch, 16:10 IPS display with a 90% screen-to-body ratio pushing a 1920 x 1200p resolution. There’s no fancy high refresh rates here but Huawei does say it covers the full sRGB colour gamut and has a peak brightness of 300nits, on top of a 1200:1 contrast ratio. Despite its large size, the whole laptop is still relatively light, coming in at just 1.68kg with its metallic chassis.
Under the hood, you’ll have your option of up to a 13th Gen Intel Core i9-13900H, with up to 16GB of LPDDR4X RAM and up to a 1TB SSD; options with a 12th Gen Intel Core i5-12450H and a 13th Gen Intel Core i5-13420H are also available. As for graphics, there won’t be an option with a discrete graphics card in Malaysia, but you will get Intel Iris Xe integrated graphics on the Core i9 model and Intel UHD integrated graphics on the Core i5 versions. The MateBook D 16 will come with Windows 11 out of the box too.
Elsewhere, you’ll find a fingerprint scanner on the power button, a 720p webcam that’s thankfully above the display (no more chin pop-up cameras here) and an up to 70Wh battery that Huawei rates as good for up to 15 hours of use. For I/O, there’s a USB-C port with support for DisplayPort output, a USB-A 3.2 Gen 1 port, a USB-A 2.0 port and a HDMI 1.4 port along with a 3.5mm combo audio jack.
