Over a year since the debut of the Radeon RX 7900 XTX, AMD’s Radeon RX 7000 series is more or less complete with Team Red officially launching the Radeon RX 7600 XT. Positioned mostly as a sweet spot 1080p graphics card that’s also ‘ready for 1440p gaming’, the Radeon RX 7600 XT brings with it a massive amount of VRAM to a market segment that previously had to make do with much less.
Essentially a souped up version of the regular RX 7600, the Radeon RX 7600 XT not only doubles the VRAM amount to 16GB of GDDR6 memory, but also comes with roughly 10% higher clock speeds all around. Other than that though, it is quite similar to the RX 7600, with an identical Navi 33 GPU built on the 6nm TSMC process and the same 32 compute units, 128-bit memory bus interface, 18Gbps memory clockspeed and 32GB of Infinity Cache.
However, with the higher base clock speed of 2470MHz and boost speeds of 2760MHz, it is rated for 20.2 TFLOPS and should offer about 10% more performance than the regular RX 7600 thanks to that higher clock speed and double the memory. The new Radeon RX 7600 XT will also require a beefier power supply to run, with the new graphics card rated for a 190W TBP compared to the RX 7600’s 165W TBP.
As for actual performance claims, AMD says that the Radeon RX 7600 XT will not only be a banger of a graphics card for 1080p gamers today, but is also ‘ready’ for when you make the jump to a 1440p monitor; granted, that came with the slight asterisk of having to use FidelityFX Super Resolution 2 and FSR 3 to boost framerates. AMD is also comparing the RX 7600 XT to the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060, which has pretty much become the most common graphics card for plenty of 1080p gamers since it debuted. According to them, compared to the aging RTX 2060, the RX 7600 XT is up to 1.9x faster in games.
While local pricing and availability details have yet to be confirmed, AMD has at least revealed that the new Radeon RX 7600 XT will come with a recommended retail price of USD329 and will go on sale from 24 January onwards via their board partners such as Acer, Asus, Gigabyte, Sapphire, XFX and PowerColor. For reference, the Radeon RX 7600 had a suggested retail price of USD269 in the US and RM1,399 in Malaysia. As usual though, the final price tag will depend on the board partners themselves, who may add on features like better cooling configurations and factory overclocks.
