At CES 2024, Acer has announced a refresh of what is perhaps this writer’s personal favourite laptop, the Swift X 14. The portable powerhouse for professionals won’t be getting too many major changes in terms of design, but does get a slew of upgrades under the hood.
In particular, it will be getting Intel’s new Meteor Lake processors under the hood with the Intel Core Ultra H-series silicon mated with up to 32GB of LPDDR5X RAM, up to a 1TB SSD and up to an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 discrete graphics card, a notable upgrade from its predecessor that capped out with a GeForce RTX 4050. As is the case with all of these new laptops powered by the latest processors, they will come with a slew of AI tools and features and the Swift X 14 is no different as it also has that new dedicated Copilot key on the keyboard that Microsoft seems to really be pushing onto everyone.
Elsewhere, the 2024 Swift X 14 will come with an updated Calman-verified 14.5-inch OLED display, pushing a 2.8K resolution and a Delta E<2 colour accuracy for its target demographic of creative professionals. The screen is also rated for full coverage of the DCI-P3 colour gamut as well as a peak brightness of 500nits with DisplayHDR TrueBlack 500 certification. It’ll even be able to do a 120Hz refresh rate, allowing for smoother viewing and some gaming on the side.
Other features of note include an FHD webcam with AI-enabled Acer Temporal Noise Reduction, a three mic setup and plenty of I/O which include dual USB-C ports, a HDMI 2.1 port and a microSD card reader, on top of support for WiFi 6E and Bluetooth LE Audio wireless connectivity.
At the moment, Acer has not revealed how much the new Swift X 14 will cost in Malaysia or indeed if it’ll even make its way here just yet. Last year’s Swift X 14 for instance was also first shown off at CES 2023, but only actually launched on our shores in July—you can check out our review of it here. In any case, we do at least know that the new and improved Swift X 14 will start at USD1,399 (~RM6,508.15) in the US.
