Back in November, leaks of the Samsung Galaxy A35 had appeared online, showing off a somewhat new look for the Korean giant’s midrange model. Now, the Galaxy A55 has also surfaced online complete with the same subtle bump on the side that Samsung appears to be giving its Galaxy A lineup.
As reported by Android Headlines, the Galaxy A55 will mostly be very familiar to Samsung fans and users, keeping a very similar design philosophy as previous Galaxy A devices with a flat display, slightly curved corners and flat sides all around the chassis. Well, almost all around; the Galaxy A55 appears to have the same subtle raised bump on the right side surrounding the volume and power buttons, with this design element also appearing on the leaked Galaxy A35 and on the already launched Galaxy A15 and Galaxy A25, dubbed the ‘Key Island’.
Other than that though, not much is changing with the Galaxy A55 this year compared to the Galaxy A54 from last year. The Galaxy A55 is expected to be powered by Samsung’s own Exynos 1480 system-on-chip with 8GB of RAM at 256GB of storage; you can also expect it to launch with Android 14 out of the box skinned with OneUI 6.1 over it. Not much else is known about it just yet though, other than that they will come in Awesome Iceblue, Awesome Lilac and Awesome Navy colourways.
As for when it’ll launch, it’s safe to say that it will most likely be at least after the 18th of January, as that will be when Samsung is having their Galaxy Unpacked event and also where we can expect them to launch their flagship Galaxy S24 series. There’s a good chance though that it’ll debut in February, as Samsung typically does launch the Galaxy A series a month or so after the Galaxy S series.
