Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli today announced that Pangkalan Data Utama (PADU) will be offering several goodies for the first few thousand users who signed up for a PADU account. The newly constructed national-level centralized database will be opened for registration on 2 January 2024.
What is PADU?
The objective of PADU is to combine all the data from various government agencies into a single database. Through PADU, the government believe that it will be able to get a clearer picture of the household income in Malaysia which would then enable it to distribute subsidies more effectively as well as establish better policies in the future.
When users log into PADU, they will see more than 270 data fields in the system. In addition to personal information such as full name, MyKad number, and age, you will also be able to see information regarding dependents, income, vehicles, and many more.
In other words, you don’t have to input information into the system from scratch. All in all, what PADU needs for you is to verify and update the information that it has gathered from other agencies although do note that you only have up until 31 March 2024 to do this.
Rafizi recently said that PADU is fully developed by civil servants from the Ministry of Economy, Department of Statistics (DOSM), and the Malaysian Administrative Modernisation and Management Planning Unit (MAMPU). In addition to that, the minister also claimed that the development process only took seven months.
Freebies for PADU early users
Back to the freebies, Rafizi said the first 3,000 users who registered an account at PADU will receive a free Touch ‘n Go NFC card. In addition to that, they will also be provided with Mydin discounts although the minister didn’t provide any explanation of how much discounts these early bird users will get.
Meanwhile, PADU will be officially launched by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim on 2 January 2024 at the Putrajaya International Conference Centre. You can register through this website if you want to physically attend the launch event although you can still catch the live broadcast online.
