Honor Malaysia has recently teased its upcoming foldable smartphone which is set to be unveiled in Malaysia on 3rd January 2024. The device in question is the Honor Magic V2 which is said to be the thinnest and lightest foldable smartphone to date. However, if you’re thinking of getting your wallets ready to purchase this foldable device, you will be sorely disappointed.

Honor Malaysia has clarified that the upcoming event is merely a product announcement which serves as a teaser for the local market. There’s no product launch for the Honor Magic V2 yet as the actual pricing, availability and launch promotion will be revealed at a separate event.

At the moment, the Honor Magic V2 is almost a 6-month-old product which was first launched in China back in July. While several new flagships with Snapdragon Gen 3 have started to trickle into the Malaysian market, the Magic V2 still runs on the previous generation mobile processor, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.

The biggest highlight is its weight and dimensions. The Magic V2 is only 9.99mm thin when folded and 4.7mm thin when unfolded. Meanwhile, the foldable device weighs just 231g which is not only lighter than the previous Magic VS, but it’s even lighter than the iPhone 14 Pro Max.

To recap on the specs, the Magic V2 features a 7.92″ 120Hz OLED display (2344×2156) on the inside, while the cover gets a 6.43″ 120Hz OLED panel with a 20:9 aspect (2376×1060) ratio. The device comes with 16GB of RAM and the storage options include 256GB, 512GB and 1TB. In China, the Honor Magic V2 is priced at CNY8,999 (about RM5,859) for the base 256GB model.

If you want to be among the first to know about the Honor Magic V2 launch in Malaysia, you can drop your email on Honor’s new launch page.
