Several states in Malaysia are badly affected by floods with over 28,000 people evacuated nationwide as of today. The floods have also disrupted telecommunications services with 110 transmission stations affected across four states namely Kelantan, Pahang, Selangor and Terengganu.

The Malaysia Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has updated that a total of 24 out of 110 stations (21.82%) have been restored as of 10am today. The regulator is working closely with the respective service providers to find a solution to restore the remaining 86 non-operational stations.

The MCMC added that residents in flood-affected areas can report network issues by contacting the respective MCMC representatives listed below (provided that you can still have some form of access to telco services):

  • Kelantan – Yuzani Mohamad Yusoff (09-7454828 / [email protected] )
  • Pahang – Mohd Razlan Rani (09-5154825 / [email protected] )
  • Selangor – Muhammad Jaflus Baharudin (03-86887403 / [email protected] )
  • Terengganu – Ahmad Baihaqi Zinbahar (09-6288029 / [email protected] )

The regular said it is also gearing up for potential floods in other states. It also reminded the public not to propagate fake news or exploit the deteriorating conditions in the affected areas.
