Chery Malaysia will be hosting the Chery Eco Run in Putrajaya to usher in the new year. The theme of the run is in line with the brand’s next release in Malaysia, the Omoda E5.
Scheduled to take place on Sunday, 7 January 2024 at Dataran Wawasan of Putrajaya, the event offers two categories for runners out there including 5KM and 10KM. They will be flagged off at 7:30 AM and 7:20 AM, respectively.
The Chery Eco Run is a rather casual running event given its rather generous cut-off time. For 5KM participants, you have 1 hour to complete it while 10KM participants have 2 hours to get to the finish line.
Given its casual nature, the Chery Eco Run does not provide prizes for the top 3 finishers. However, there is still a lucky draw session which offers tumblers, stereo speakers, and a limited edition Chery diecast model.

Each Chery Eco Run participant will be provided with a running shirt made by local sportswear brand, Ultron in addition to a race bib and personal accident insurance plan. The Race Pack Collection Day has been scheduled to take place on Saturday, 6 January 2024 at Decathlon in IOI City Mall, Putrajaya.
Of course, they can expect to receive a medal at the end of the run as well as light refreshment. Participants can also obtain the e-certificate through the JomRun app which is the official app partner for the event.
Chery Eco Run is a prelude to the launch of Chery Omoda E5
As noted earlier, the “Eco” part of the event’s name pretty much reflects the nature of Omoda E5. Being a battery-powered electric vehicle (BEV), the SUV has no tailpipe emission.
Equipped with a 150kW (201hp) motor that also produces 340Nm of torque, Chery claimed that the Omoda E5 can go from 0-100km/h in 7.6 seconds. Powering the Omoda E5 is a 61kWh battery pack and it allows the fully electric SUV to deliver a WLTP-rated range of 430km.
When it comes to charging, the Omoda E5 supports DC fast charging of up to 80kW which allows it to be charged from 30-80% in 30 minutes. The EV also has an onboard 9.9kW AC charger as well as 3.3kW Vehicle-2-Load (V2L) capability.
With an expected price tag of between RM150k to RM160k, the Omoda E5 is likely will go head-to-head against the BYD Atto 3 which is the most popular EV in Malaysia at the moment. Ahead of its estimated local rollout in March 2024, you can now register your interest in Omoda E5 through Chery Malaysia’s website.
