Yes 5G offers one of the best value-for-money 5G postpaid and prepaid plans for domestic use but they lack attractive roaming passes for overseas travel. Now it appears that Yes 5G is now looking into affordable overseas internet usage and they have started to offer free “unlimited” 5G roaming in Singapore.
Free Roaming in Singapore on Yes Infinite RM58/month and higher
According to YTL Communications telco, customers on Yes Infinite postpaid plans from RM58/month will get free unlimited 5G roaming in Singapore. This includes Yes Infinite Basic (RM58/month), Standard (RM88/month), Premium (RM118/month) and Ultra (RM178/month). The free unlimited 5G roaming is not available if you are on the cheaper Yes Power 35 plan.
YesRoam Singapore “Unlimited” data roaming FUP
Unlike its unlimited 5G offering for domestic usage in Malaysia, there’s a Fair Usage Policy (FUP) for data roaming. As outlined clearly on Yes’ roaming page, the YesRoam SG Monthly which is included for free with the Infinite plans offers up to 10GB of high-speed data while roaming in Singapore. Once you’ve hit your 10GB quota, you can still enjoy “unlimited” data roaming but your speed will be throttled down to 512kbps.
If you need to regain full speed, you can activate the YesRoam SG Daily pass for RM8/day. The YesRoam SG daily pass offers “Unlimited” roaming in Singapore with 1GB of high-speed data quota. Once you’ve depleted your quota, your speed will also be reduced to 512kbps.
With the YesRoam SG, Yes Infinite postpaid users will be able to receive incoming calls for free while in Singapore and you can make calls to any Malaysia number for free as well. Calls to any Singapore number will cost you RM3 per minute and RM28 per minute to other countries. If you need to send an SMS, it costs RM1 each while roaming in Singapore.
To enjoy the free unlimited roaming perk in Singapore, be sure that your device is connected to Simba, which was formerly known as TPG. According to the FAQ, customers are advised to ensure that the roaming passes are activated via MyYes app under Yes Roam > Activate Roaming. If you still can’t get connected, you are advised to ensure that your phone’s Access Point Name (APN) is set to either ‘yesnet’ or ‘shwap’.
It added that you will be auto-subscribed to either YesRoam Daily or YesRoam Monthly when you arrive at the designated country and connect to the preferred roaming operator.
