Honor has begun teasing their next couple of smartphones in Malaysia, the Honor X8b and the Honor X7b. These two midrange devices are set to arrive officially on 22 December, and while Honor didn’t fully announce the price yet, it seems that it has already been revealed via other retailers.

Honor X8b and Honor X7b Malaysia pricing and availability

DirectD has already put up pre-order listings for both the Honor X8b and the Honor X7b on their website, despite Honor themselves only officially launching it in Malaysia on 22 December 2023. The Honor X8b will come in a single configuration with 8GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, priced at just RM999 while the Honor X7b will come with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, priced at RM799. DirectD is also throwing in a pair of Honor Choice X5 Lite earbuds worth RM139 if you pre-order from them.

Honor X8b specs

The Honor X8b features a large 6.7-inch, FHD+ AMOLED display capable of pushing a 90Hz refresh rate and has curved corners too, giving it a very iPhone-esque look especially when you take into account the flat edges surrounding the screen. Adding to the Apple look is the pill-shaped front camera, which based on promotional pictures appears to have Dynamic Island-like features too such as expanding to show your notifications and incoming calls.

The front camera itself is a a 50MP shooter that Honor claims is a ‘Spotlight Portrait’ camera, packing both the camera itself along with a front spotlight and auto switching field of view. Flip it around and you’ll find a square camera island with a 108MP main camera, a 5MP ultrawide and depth camera and a 2MP macro sensor. The rest of the back panel appears to have a patterned finish, and comes in Glamorous Green or Titanium Silver colourways.

Powering the Honor X8b is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 680, and it gets mated to 8GB of RAM and a massive 512GB of storage. It comes with Android 13 out of the box, skinned with MagicOS 7.2 over it. Keeping the lights on then is a 4,500mAh battery with 35W SuperCharge fast charging via USB-C. The whole device measures only 6.78mm and weighs in at just 166g.

Honor X7b specs

As for the Honor X7b, it has a much more traditional 6.8-inch, FHD+ LCD display with a 90Hz refresh rate, without the pill-shaped cutout for the front camera. Nevertheless, it has the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 system-on-chip powering it, along with 8GB of RAm and 256GB of storage running Android 13 out of the box skinned with MagicOS 7.2 over it.

Where the Honor X7b shines though is in the battery department, with a large 6,000mAh battery with support for 35W SuperCharge fast charging. As for its cameras, the Honor X7b features a 108MP main camera too as well as a 5MP ultrawide and a 2MP macro sensor, though the camera island itself has a different design this time; there’s also an 8MP selfie shooter up front. Available in Flowing Silver and Emerald Green, the Honor X7b weighs 199g and measures 8.24mm thick.
