CelcomDigi recently celebrated its first anniversary as a merged telco and they have unveiled its new ‘unified’ 5G postpaid plans under a single brand. However, depending on which 5G postpaid plan you’re on, CelcomDigi has imposed different 5G speed caps and Fair Usage Policy (FUP) limits.

CelcomDigi said during the postpaid 5G launch that they will be transparent on the expected speeds and FUP so that consumers can make an informed decision. To recap, the base Postpaid 5G 80 and Postpaid 5G 100 plans come with fixed high-speed data quota (90GB and 150GB), while Postpaid 5G 120 and above come with “unlimited” data.

On the Postpaid product page, the plans only show “Essential”, “Advance”, “Premium” and “Ultimate” for the 5G speeds and you’ll have to click the link to view the actual figures on the FAQ. Meanwhile, the FUP quota limit can only be found by digging through the terms and conditions.

Depending on which postpaid plan you’re on, here’s the download and upload speed for each plan:

  • CelcomDigi Postpaid 5G 80 – 100Mbps download, 25Mbps upload
  • CelcomDigi Postpaid 5G 100 – 300Mbps download, 75Mbps upload
  • CelcomDigi Postpaid 5G 120 – 300Mbps download, 75Mbps upload
  • CelcomDigi Postpaid 5G 140 – 500Mbps download, 125Mbps upload
  • CelcomDigi Postpaid 5G 160 – 500Mbps download, 125Mbps upload
  • CelcomDigi Postpaid 5G 260 – Uncapped download, Uncapped upload

Once you’ve hit your FUP limit on CelcomDigi Postpaid 5G 100 plans and above, your speed will be throttled to 10Mbps. That’s still plenty fast for most users including HD video streaming. Interestingly, there’s no mention of the throttled speed once you’ve depleted your high-speed data quota on the CelcomDigi Postpaid 5G 80 plan.

The only plan without a speed cap is CelcomDigi Postpaid 5G 260 which comes bundled with 300Mbps fibre broadband plan. This plan is only available in January 2024 and it will be offered for RM200/month for existing Celcom or Digi postpaid customers.

As we all know, not all “unlimited” data plans offer true unlimited quota. According to the T&C, the monthly FUP quota for the new CelcomDigi Postpaid 5G plans is between 300GB to 2TB. Here’s how much data you can use monthly before your speed gets throttled to 10Mbps:

  • CelcomDigi Postpaid 5G 120 – 300GB
  • CelcomDigi Postpaid 5G 140 – 1,000GB
  • CelcomDigi Postpaid 5G 160 – 1,000GB
  • CelcomDigi Postpaid 5G 260 – 2,000GB
  • CelcomDigi Postpaid 5G Family Plus supplementary line – 300GB
