iQoo, the Vivo sub-brand, has been teasing the arrival of the iQoo 12 for a while now on their social media pages, calling it Malaysia’s first Snapdragon 8 Gen 3-powered smartphone as well as hyping up its launch event that will be taking place on 6 December. However, in the lead up to the iQoo 12’s local launch, it seems that Shopee may have inadvertently just revealed its price.
In a post on Facebook, the orange eCommerce platform posted a picture promoting the upcoming 12.12 sale that will be taking place on the official iQoo store on Shopee. The picture shows off the iQoo Z7 and iQoo Z7x, a pair of midrange smartphones released earlier this year, but also curiously depicts the iQoo 12. It shows not just the upcoming smartphone in all of its glory, but also with the price tag of RM3,399, which will go down to RM2,919 on 12.12 after applying a 10% cashback voucher and store voucher onto it.
If the RM3,399 retail price is true, this means that the iQoo 12 will not only be the first flagship smartphone in Malaysia to pack the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 system-on-chip, it will also come with a lower price tag than the iQoo 11 that debuted for RM3,499. And on top of that, if Shopee’s supposed 12.12 offer turns out to be valid, you’ll be able to purchase a next generation flagship smartphone for less than RM3,000—before the end of the year.
As a quick recap, the iQoo 12 comes with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 system-on-chip under the hood mated to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB of UFS 4.0 storage. There’s also a 6.78-inch, 2800 x 1260p AMOLED display pushing a 144Hz refresh rate and a triple rear camera setup on the back with a main 50MP camera, a 50MP ultrawide and a 64MP periscope telephoto shooter. Keeping the lights on meanwhile is a 5,000mAh battery with 120W fast charging.
Of course, we’ll have to wait until the official launch of the iQoo 12 itself to be sure about that supposed RM3,399 price tag. It will be happening at 3pm, 6 December 2023 and you can watch it yourself live on the iQoo Malaysia Facebook page as it happens.
