[UPDATE 30/11/2023]: Samsung has since come out to confirm that there will not be a rebranding of Exynos taking place. They do acknowledge the existence of ‘Dream Chip’, but that’s mostly referring to its own internal project names with no intention for it to be replacing the Exynos brand altogether.

We’re getting closer and closer to the alleged January 2024 launch window of the Samsung Galaxy S24 series, and as usual that also means a flurry of leaks and rumours popping up all over the internet. One recent rumour though seems to have appeared out of left field, with some claiming that the Exynos brand could be retired altogether and be rebranded as the ‘Dream Chip’.
According to serial leakster @OreXda on Twitter, Samsung could be rebranding the entire Exynos lineup into the ‘Dream Chip’ series. This appears to be related to the long-running rumours of there being a ‘Dream Team’ in the Exynos division at Samsung, supposedly a team of their best engineers working on improving their in-house mobile processors. The last true flagship Exynos was the Exynos 2200, a chip that was relegated to only a few regions for the Galaxy S22 series and was also used on the Galaxy S23 FE outside of the United States.

There could be some reason behind the rebranding of course. The Exynos name continues to be seen as the inferior silicon compared to other processors from the likes of Qualcomm and even MediaTek, and a total rebrand could be the first step in Samsung’s attempt to win back users and change public perception. That being said though, @OreXda himself doesn’t have a particularly accurate track record when it comes to his leaks; he previously claimed that Samsung would be launching a Galaxy Buds 2 Live this year and also said that the Exynos 2300 will feature on the unreleased Galaxy S22 FE.
In any case, regardless of whether or not it will be called Exynos or Dream Chip, it seems that if you were getting the Galaxy S24 Ultra chances are Samsung are fitting it with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 globally anyway. However, the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ are a little unclear, with the rumour mill hinting at a mix of Snapdragon and Eyxnos (or Dream Chip) versions for different regions around the world.
