The Apple iMac with Apple M3 processor is now officially available in Malaysia. The all-in-one computer was first announced to the world almost a month ago alongside the equally new M3-powered MacBook Pro which is also available in Malaysia today.
Apple M3-powered iMac 2023 Malaysian pricing
For starters, the new iMac 2023 with M3 processor can be obtained in three base configurations. Here is what they looked like on Apple Malaysia’s online store:
- iMac 2023 with 8-core GPU, 8GB unified memory and 256GB storage: RM6,299
- iMac 2023 with 10-core GPU, 8GB unified memory and 256GB storage: RM7,299
- iMac 2023 with 10-core GPU, 8GB unified memory and 512GB storage: RM8,099
In case you are wondering, the starting price of the M3 version is RM700 more than its M1 predecessor which was released in 2021. At that time, the iMac starts at RM5,599.
Among the advantages that the M3 version provides is the ability to have up to 24GB of memory as opposed to the M1 which maxes out at 16GB. Price-wise, the jump from 8GB to 16GB will set you back RM800 and it will cost you another RM800 if you want to go from 16GB to 24GB.
As for the storage, adding 512GB to your configurations from 256GB carries an additional cost of RM800. From there, you can add another RM800 to upgrade to 1TB and it costs RM1,600 to go from 1TB to 2TB SSD.
For those who want to go all the way, they can a fully loaded M3-powered iMac for RM12,698. This includes the M3 with the 10-core GPU, 24GB memory and 2TB SSD alongside Magic Mouse + Trackpad and Magic Keyboard with Touch ID and Numeric Keypad.
Apple M3-powered iMac 2023 quick specs
Apple claims that the new M3 processor unlocked 2x more performance for the 2023 iMac than its M1-based predecessor. As for the computer itself, there is no big difference between the M3 and M1 models in general although some may notice that the base model for the M3-based iMac has a lower amount of GPU cores while the 10-core GPU version also has fewer USB-C ports.
For one, the iMac with M3 still has the same 24-inch 4.5K (4480 x 2520) Retina Display which has a peak brightness of 500 nits. The display is also accompanied by a 1080p FaceTime HD camera.
The newly updated iMac is also equipped with a 6-speaker system that supports Spatial Audio with Dolby Atmos content. It also comes with three studio-quality mics and still has a 3.5mm headphone jack.
Connectivity-wise, the iMac with M3 can support 802.11ax WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3. If you opt for the base model and would like to have wired network connectivity, you have to add another RM110 to get Gigabit Ethernet support.
