Vivo’s sub-brand iQoo will be launching its new flagship, the iQoo 12 Series in Malaysia soon. The smartphone series is about to become the first Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 offering in Malaysia.
This was revealed through the brand’s Facebook page earlier today although the company’s stopped short of revealing the actual launch date. Its predecessor, the iQoo 11 was also the first Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 device in Malaysia when the phone made its way into our market last December.
iQoo 12 Series quick specs
The new iQoo 12 Series first made its debut in China earlier this month. Aside from being powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, both the standard iQoo 12 and iQoo 12 Pro have been fitted with a 6.78-inch AMOLED display that can deliver a refresh rate of up to 144Hz.
To make sure that gamers can enjoy their game at such a high refresh rate, both devices have been equipped with a secondary processor called Q1 which was developed by iQoo itself. The company said that the in-house chip provides several graphics enhancements such as low-latency frame insertion, super-resolution, and superframe.
However, the display resolution on the standard iQoo 12 maxes out at 2800 x 1260 while the resolution for the Pro model is listed as 3200 x 1440. The standard iQoo 12 can also be obtained with 12GB of RAM but not for the iOoo 12 Pro which is only available with 16GB of RAM.
Featuring a dual-cell layout, the standard iQoo 12 can be obtained with either a 5,000mAh or 4,880mAh battery pack while the iQoo 12 Pro come standard with a 5,500mAh battery pack. 120W wired fast charging is a standard feature across both variants although the iQoo 12 Pro is also able to support 50W wireless fast charging as well.
When it comes to cameras, both the standard and Pro variants of the iQoo 12 have been fitted with the same tri-camera module on their back. The main camera on this module is a 50MP 1/1.3-inch sensor from OmniVision that has been paired with an f/1.68 lens and inclusive of an optical image stabilization system.
The camera module also features a periscope telephoto camera that has a 64MP 1/2.0-inch sensor and f/2.57 lens while completing triple camera setup is a 50MP f/2.0 ultrawide camera. All iQoo 12 smartphones have also been equipped with a 16MP f/2.5 selfie camera.
As you may expect, the teaser from iQoo Malaysia did not mention anything about the phone’s pricing. In case you need a reference point, the standard iQoo 12 has a starting price of CNY3,999 (~RM2,618) in China while the iQoo 12 Pro is priced from CNY4,999 (~RM3,272) onwards over there.
