Insta360 just unveiled its proper competitor to the GoPro Hero Black series. Called the Insta360 Ace and Ace Pro, the series is designed to offer a wide range of action camera features powered by AI for the masses.

The Ace Pro is the flagship of the series. Insta360 co-engineered the camera with Leica to deliver high-quality images and video with the Leica SUMMARIT f/2.6 lens on the camera. Behind the lens is a 1/1.3-inch sensor that can record 4K120fps video and 48MP photos on the go. The PureVideo low-light mode allows better low-light video captures, fast charge with USB PD and built-in Active HDR to preserve the dynamic range in scenes with both bright and dark areas.

The Ace meanwhile is the more wallet-friendly option, featuring a smaller 1/2-inch 48MP sensor, with a brighter lens at f/2.4.

Both cameras feature a flip-up 2.4-inch touchscreen to control and compose shots. For video, the Ace Pro can record up to 8K24p while the Ace can go as high as 6k30p. Both can do 4K120p for slow-motion video, and both cameras support AI editing via the Insta360 app available for iOS and Android.

With the app, users can edit their videos with AI using features like AI Warp to add dynamic effects to videos, and AI Selfie Stick Eraser to remove the selfie stick from the footage automatically.

Something cool with the camera is that you can synchronise data from either a Garmin device or Apple Watch with footage from the camera to create an overlay with complete GPS, speed and other important data.

Both cameras are rated to depths of up to 10 meters, and with the optional Dive Case, it can go down deeper – up to 60 meters. The flip screen can flip up even underwater, thanks to the waterproof design.

The cameras also work in temperatures as cold as -20°C so this can be your new partner for winter action scenes. The FlowState Stabilization technology ensures that videos remain incredibly smooth, and 360° Horizon Lock keeps the horizon level straight, regardless of the action.

Ace Pro supports fast charging with any 30W and above PD charger, which can charge up the battery to 80% in just 22 minutes.
