Sony Malaysia is now offering an early bird deal for the Sony Xperia 5 V. This is the Mark V version of its compact Xperia 5 flagship series and it is more affordable than the Xperia 1 V.
The Sony Xperia 5 V is officially priced at RM4,999 in Malaysia and it comes in a single variant with 8GB RAM and 256GB UFS storage. To sweeten the deal, Sony is bundling the Sony WF-1000XM5 wireless noise-cancelling earbuds worth RM1,399 for free. In addition, you’ll also get a premium clear casing and tempered glass screen protector as free gifts.
If you’re interested, you can place your orders from the Sony Malaysia online store. In addition, you can also get a TNG eWallet rebate of RM50 and an additional 3 months warranty when you register your product warranty at My Sony.
The Sony Xperia 5 V features a 6.1″ 21:9 Full HD+ OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The display is also protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2. Under the hood, it runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip with 8GB RAM and 256GB of storage. If storage isn’t enough, the Xperia 5 V also comes with a microSD card slot which support up to 1TB of extra storage.
In the camera department, the Mark V only gets a dual-camera setup for the rear with a 48MP main camera with a 1/1.35″ Exmor T sensor and a 12MP ultra-wide-angle shooter which uses a 1/2.5″ Exmor RS sensor. Unfortunately, there’s no telephoto camera which was previously offered on the Mark IV. Upfront, there’s a 12MP camera which also supports 4K video recording.
Powering the device is a 5,000mAh battery and it supports USB PD fast charging via USB as well as Qi wireless charging. For audio, it also has stereo speakers and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Being a flagship Sony Xperia smartphone, it also gets IP68-rated dust and water resistance.
The Sony Xperia 5 V supports 5G as well as 802.11ax 6GHz WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3. For fast wired transfers, the USB-C port is USB 3.2 capable of up to 5Gbps. In Malaysia, the device only comes in a single Black colour option.
