Carput Zap has deployed its first public DC fast charger in Penang and it is one of the fastest on the island. Best of all, you won’t need to download any apps as you can activate the charger from your phone’s web browser.
Carput Zap’s new DC charger is among the fastest on Penang island
The new charger is a 120kW DC fast charging unit which has two CCS2 nozzles. It is located at New World Park in Penang, which is just next door to Tune Hotel along Jalan Burma.
Carput Zap’s 120kW DC charger is priced at RM72/hour which is essentially RM1.20 per minute. We’ve been told that you can activate in 15, 30, 45 or 60-minute charging blocks. This means a quick 15-minute charging session will cost you RM18 while a 30-minute charging session will cost RM36.
[ UPDATE 26/10/2024 ] Carput Zap’s 120kW DC Charger at New World Park is now priced at RM1.20 per kWh. This is currently the most affordable 120kW DC charger in Penang.
[ UPDATE 12/1/2024 ] The New World Park 120kW DC charger is now priced at RM108 per hour. This is equivalent to RM27 for 15 minutes or RM54 for 30 minutes of charging.
To activate the charger, you can scan the QR code or use Carput Zap’s mobile page and complete the payment via credit/debit card.
The other 120kW DC charger in Penang Island is located at a Smart dealership at Jalan Jelutong. The charger costs RM1.60 per minute and it is activated via ChargEV.
DC Chargers in Penang priced per kWh
If you prefer a DC charger that’s priced per kWh, DC Handal has a 90kW DC charger at Choo Plaza in Georgetown. The charger is priced at RM1.50 per kWh and you can activate it by tapping your credit or debit card at the terminal which has a RM50 pre-authorisation amount. Alternatively, you can also activate this charger via ChargEV and JomCharge.
If your EV needs a quick top-up at Balik Pulau, there’s now a 70kW DC Charger at Starbucks Botanica DT. The DC charger at this location is priced at RM1.20 per kWh and it is activated via ChargEV.
