Vivo has just recently revealed their latest flagship lineup of smartphones, the Vivo X100 and Vivo X100 Pro. They’re notable for being the first couple of smartphones to use MediaTek’s latest flagship mobile processor, the Dimensity 9300. Vivo is also continuing with their partnership with the German optics company Zeiss with their new smartphones coming with Zeiss-branded lenses on the cameras.
First off then are the similarities between the Vivo X100 and Vivo X100 Pro. At first glance, you might not even notice too many differences between the two, as both devices come with the same 6.78-inch, curved AMOLED display, pushing a 2800 x 1260p resolution for a pixel density of 452PPI along with a peak brightness of 3,000nits, an adaptive refresh rate of up to 120Hz, full coverage of the DCI-P3 colour gamut along with 2160Hz PWM dimming for reduced eye strain. You’ll also find both smartphones featuring an IP68 dust and water resistance rating.
On top of that, the two devices also share the same MediaTek Dimensity 9300 system-on-chip. Unlike most other mobile processors around like the rivalling Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, the Dimensity 9300 is notable for consisting of eight traditionally ‘big’ cores, which MediaTek says will still be more power efficient with up to 40% performance gains. That gets mated to up to 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage, running Android 14 skinned with OriginOS 4 in China while international units get skinned with Funtouch 14 over it.
It’s really in the camera department though where the major differences between the Vivo X100 and the Vivo X100 Pro are. The Pro model features a triple rear camera setup with a main 50MP, f/1.8 camera using the Sony IMX989 1″ sensor, while the secondary shooter is a 50MP, f2.5 periscope telephoto camera offering a 4.3x optical zoom with Zeiss APO lenses. Lastly, an ultrawide 50MP, f/2.0 camera offering a focal length equivalent of 15mm rounds it off, while up front is a 32MP, f/2.0 selfie shooter.
As for the non-Pro model, it too has a 50MP main camera, but differs slightly with a f/1.6 aperture and uses a smaller Sony IMX920 sensor instead. It also loses out on the Zeiss APO telephoto shooter altogether, instead getting a more typical 64MP, f/2.6 telephoto shooter offering a 3x optical zoom. It does however have the same ultrawide and selfie camera as the X100 Pro.
Other differences between the two include the battery capacity, with the X100 powered by a 5,000mAh battery with 120W fast charging while the X100 Pro gets a bigger 5,400mAh battery with 100W fast charging as well as 50W wireless charging. The Pro model also has a more capable USB-C 3.2 port, while the regular X100 has a regular USB-C 2.0 port instead. Other than that, both phones come with stereo speakers as well as WiFi 7, NFC, 5G and Bluetooth 5.2 wireless support too.
Vivo has not yet confirmed when exactly the X100 and X100 Pro will be made available in Malaysia nor have they mentioned how much it’ll cost, but we do know how much they cost in China where they’re already available for purchase. There, the Vivo X100 starts at CNY3,999 (~RM2,578.75), while the X100 Pro is priced from CNY4,999 (~RM3,223.60) onwards.
