Gentari expanded its EV charging network which now includes four malls in Johor Bahru. They have deployed a total of 18 AC charge points at Perling Mall, Paradigm Mall, Pelangi Leisure Mall and Plaza Pelangi. These are ideal destinations to top up your EV for a couple of hours while you’re shopping or dining at these premises.
Gentari’s new EV Charging locations in JB
The Perling Mall location has one 22kW and two 11kW AC Charge points, while Pelangi Leisure Mall (Pillar H9-H10) gets three 11kW Charge points.
The other two malls feature a total of 6 AC charge points each. Plaza Pelangi (Basement 2) has 6x 11kW charge points and Paradigm Mall JB has 3x 7kW and 3x 22kW charge points. It is worth pointing out that Paradigm Mall JB also has three 11kW AC charge points by ParkEasy x Shell Recharge which are still priced by the hour.
Gentari’s AC Charge Points pricing at Perling, Plaza Pelangi, Pelangi Leisure and Paradigm Malls
In terms of pricing, the AC charge points at Perling Mall, Pelangi Leisure Mall and Plaza Pelangi are priced at RM0.17 per minute (or RM10.20 per hour). Meanwhile, the chargers at Paradigm Mall JB are priced at RM0.18 per minute (or RM10.80 per hour).

Gentari currently has over 200 EV charge points in Malaysia and it aims to have 400 by the end of this year. Besides adding more AC charge points at destinations such as shopping malls, office buildings and hotels, Gentari is also upgrading its AC charge points at Petronas stations along PLUS R&R to faster DC chargers. The green mobility company will also deploy solar and battery-assisted EV charging stations along the North-South Expressway which will enable DC fast charging at locations with power capacity constraints.
For owners of EVs with a single-phase onboard charger (OBC) like the BYD Atto 3, BYD Dolphin and the Ora Good Cat, you should use either the 7kW or 22kW AC charge point to get the maximum AC charging speed possible. These EVs will only get about 3kW when plugged into an 11kW charge point which isn’t worth it if the charger is priced by time instead of kWh-based calculation.
