Celcom facing service disruptions in Pahang and Terengganu due to fire incident

[ UPDATE 08/11/2023 16:13 ] Celcom said that its services in some of the affected areas are already back to normal. Full recovery is expected to take place by the end of the day.

Celcom customers in Pahang and Terengganu may experience some disruptions using the telco’s services today including voice calls, SMS, and Internet. This is due to a fire incident that happened this morning that has affected its network in several parts of both states.

However, Celcom did not reveal the cause and the exact location of the incident. Nevertheless, it has a major impact on the telco’s network especially in Pahang despite being described as a “small” fire.

Areas affected by Celcom’s fire incident

The telco has since published the list of areas affected by the fire on its official website as well as Facebook and X (formerly known as Twitter). Most of the locations mentioned in the list are in Pahang, as per below:

  • Bentong
  • Bera
  • Genting
  • Indera Mahkota
  •  Jaya Gading
  • Gambang,
  • Jengka,
  • Awah Jengka,
  • Lepar Utara
  • Gelanggi
  • Jerantut
  • Karak
  • Lipis,
  • Maran
  • Sri Jaya
  • Mentakab
  • Muadzam
  • Bandar Tun Razak,
  • Pekan
  • Raub
  • Rompin
  • Temerloh
  • Tg Lumpur
  • Chini
  • Kuantan Metro

As for the Terengganu, the list is much shorter:

  • Bukit Bading
  • Ketengah
  • Hulu Terengganu
  • Besut
  • Gong Badak
  • Wakaf Tengah
  • Cheneh
  • Pantai Sepat

The list from Celcom also includes neighbouring regions in Kelantan such as Chiku and Kuala Krai.

The recovery timeline is still unknown

At the moment, it is still not yet known when exactly Celcom’s services will be able to return to normal in these areas. There hasn’t been any update from the telco so far since the initial announcement at around 9:30 AM this morning.
