Besides Legoland Malaysia, ChargEV has also deployed more EV charging stations at Starbucks outlets nationwide. The charge point operator (CPO) has recently announced the availability of its 120kW DC charger at Starbucks Alor Setar DT as well as a new 70kW DC charger at Starbucks Botanica DT in Penang. From what we are seeing on the PlugShare map, the 70kW DC charger at Botanica is currently the first and only DC charger in Balik Pulau, Penang.
The EV charger at the Starbucks Botanica drive-thru is a 70kW DC charger which comes with two CCS2 nozzles. Similar to other new ChargEV DC fast chargers, the charger is priced at RM1.20 per kWh. There’s also KFC and TF Value-Mart at the location.
Similar to other Starbucks outlets, EV users who use the DC charger at the location can enjoy 50% off on a Grande Handcrafted beverage by showing the charging in progress screen of your ChargEV app and use the promo code STARCEV2023.
Besides being the only DC fast charging stop on the western interior side of Penang Island, it is also one of the first few DC fast chargers to offer kWh-based pricing on the island. The other kWh-based DC charger in Penang island is DC Handal’s 90kW charger at Choo Plaza which costs RM1.50 per kWh.
Meanwhile, the fastest EV charger currently on Penang Island is located at Smart Penang which has a 120kW DC charger. It also has two CCS2 nozzles but it is priced at RM1.60 per minute.
