CelcomDigi has introduced a new option for its 5G Home WiFi offering where you can get “unlimited” 5G and 4G data for your home for only RM99/month. This new plan-only option is RM50/month cheaper than its plan + router bundle. If you need high-speed broadband for your home and reside outside a fibre coverage area, this could be a viable alternative.
CelcomDigi 5G Home WiFi (Plan + Router)
To recap, CelcomDigi has a 5G Home WiFi (Plan + Router) plan which is going for RM199/month but they are currently offering it at a promo price of RM149/month. This plan offers “unlimited” 5G and 4G data and it comes bundled with a dual-band 4G/5G wireless router which creates a WiFi connection for your home. According to CelcomDigi, you can connect up to 30 devices to this WiFi 6 5G wireless router. This RM149/month option is tied to a 24-month contract.
CelcomDigi 5G Home WiFi (Plan Only)
If you have your own 5G router or prefer to buy one on your own, the new 5G home WiFi plan-only option costs RM139/month but it is now going for RM99/month as part of its introductory promo. You also get “unlimited” 5G and 4G data and there’s no contract since there’s no bundled router.
No contract and no upfront payment but take note of the FUP
Unlike the plan+router plan option, you won’t need to pay a RM480 upfront payment if you’re going for the RM99/month plan-only option. Take note that the “unlimited” plan has a Fair Usage Policy (FUP) of 1000GB per month. Once you’ve hit your limit, your speeds will be throttled down to 512kbps until the next billing cycle.
For those who need more than 1TB of data in a month, CelcomDigi offers extra add-on data packages such as 50GB quota for RM10 which is valid for 24 hours, as well as monthly options of 20GB for RM40 and 40GB for RM70.
If you are looking for alternatives and don’t really care about 4G coverage, Yes 5G offers its plan-only Yes 5G Wireless Broadband plan for RM58/month, while U Mobile offers its U Home 5G for RM68/month. Coverage-wise, Celcom’s offering may have the upper hand as it has more extensive 4G coverage in addition to its current access to DNB’s 5G network.
