Mark Gurman: New Macs may be announced at surprise event next week

According to trusted Apple analyst, Mark Gurman, we can expect to see a new Apple event either on 30 or 31 October as the company prepares to announce new iMac and Macbook Pros.

Mark said in his column that the announcement should include an update to the 24-inch iMac and possibly several Macbook Pro models. In the same vein, he also believes that Apple is still looking to launch a 32-inch iMac but expects that model to come out sometime next year – possibly late 2024 or even early 2025.

The M1-powered iMacs were launched in 2021 and have not seen any updates since. Not even a M2 model was announced between then and today. He is unsure if the iMacs will be the new launch platform for the inevitable M3 chips or will just see an update with the M2 chips. Either way, it will still be an upgrade to the Apple all-in-one desktop line.

There is a possibility that Apple will announce new models to the 14-inch and 16-inch Macbook Pro lineup, even though the two models just got M2 updates earlier this year. There is also the possibility of new MacBook Air models as well.

If Apple has the event next week, they can take advantage of the upcoming holiday rush. The announcement will also be coming in just before Apple’s quarterly earnings results on 2 November.

Any announcements will be miles better than the recent announcement of the new Apple Pencil USB-C model.
